Euroopa konkurentsiamet kohustab maailma suurimat tehnoloogiakompaniid Apple tasuma Iirimaa valitsusele 13 miljardit eurot, kuna komisjoni hinnangul on ettevõte saanud nii palju ebaseaduslikku riigiabi. Lisaks põhisummale tuleb ilmselt tasuda ka intresse. Apple’i sõnul on otsus poliitiliselt motiveeritud, sellel ei ole mitte mingit seaduslikku alust, ning lubab nõude vaidlustada.

Editorial: Estonians up in arms
Estonia has above 27,000 weapons owners in possession of some 68,000 hunting, sports and self defence guns. Initial applications for permits are sharply up this year with six month figures exceeding 2012 and nearly equaling 2013 totals. The reasons vary from the EU trend towards toughening gun laws to the added sense of security.

Editorial: Estonians. Pro-Europe, but troubled
Are the people in Estonia pleased with the EU? On the one hand, the satisfaction with belonging is still high and our folks feel Europeans, EU citizens. On the other hand, they are worried about what's happening in Europe, especially with what isn't immediately seen in Estonia (immigration crisis, terrorism, the debt crisis of member states) and those who don't think EU image is positive are far more numerous than in spring.
Editorial: the EU must show confidence
There is no possibility of a longer debate to be held over permanent mechanism of relocation of refugees. It is highly unlikely that pivotal decisions will be made regarding the single Schengen visa space. Both are statements by Estonian interior minister Hanno Pevkur. Politically cautious, somewhat in officialese, and therefore a rather European declaration on extremely vital topics ahead of today's meeting of EU interior ministers.

Editorial: don't forget Ukraine
In the wake of Paris terrorist attacks, the voices of those concerned about Ukraine have again spoken up: while having compassion on the victims in Paris, they worried that the scattered public opinion would further drift from events in Ukraine. Indeed, nit just the attacks in Paris but the refugee crisis in Europe and the situation in Syria have taken Ukraine off the Western orbit. Meanwhile, support from the West is almost the only thing Ukraine may hope in right now. But the hearts of politicians are where the public focus is. And the heart has begun to beat to another rhythm.

Reaction in Europe to the Friday night terror attacks in Paris were substantially different from before. The acts owned by Islamic State were coordinated and inhumanly cruel.
